POSITION:

Research Physiologist (Animal)

LOCATION:

Stoneville, MS

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:  The position is located in the Catfish Genetics Research Unit, Stoneville, Mississippi.  The incumbent will develop new and improved procedures in germ cell and testis transplantation to facilitate the production of blue catfish sperm in channel catfish.  The methods may include isolation of undifferentiated germinal cells, germ cell propagation and cryopreservation, environmental and molecular fish sterilization techniques, microinjection, microscopy, surgery, dissection, gene expression, genotyping, immunoassay and fish culture.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:   Recent Ph.D. in one of the basic animal sciences or physiology; or a closely related field is required.  Knowledge of fish culture, germ cell transplantation methods, PCR and immunoassay based detection and quantification assays are desirable.
