DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES: This position is located in the Cereal Disease Management Research Unit in St. Paul, Minnesota, which is located on the St. Paul campus of the University of Minnesota. The incumbent will be part a national team monitoring aerial movement of Phakopsora pachyrhizi (causal agent of Asian soybean rust) in the U.S. using a network of NADP/NTN rain collections sites. Real-time PCR methods will be used to assay rain samples for P. pachyrhizi spores.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: Ph.D. in plant pathology, microbiology, molecular biology or a related field is required. Experience with qPCR and DNA sequence analysis methods of detection, and excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively are required.
