POSITION:

Research Geneticist (Plants)

LOCATION:

Pullman, WA

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:   The position is located in the Plant Germplasm Introduction and Testing Research Station on the Washington State University campus in Pullman, WA.  The incumbent will apply available genomics tools to germplasm management.  Primary responsibilities include 1) develop a core collection of lettuce germplasm based on phenotypic and DNA marker data and 2) characterize and evaluate other priority germplasm for molecular markers, morphological descriptors, and key agronomic or horticultural traits.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:   Ph.D. in Genetics, Horticulture, Molecular Biology, or related field is required.  Knowledge of plant breeding, plant population genetics, laboratory skills with DNA-based markers and ability to analyze large datasets is desirable.
