DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES: The position is located in the Environmental Management and Byproducts Utilization Laboratory, Animal and Natural Resources Institute. The incumbent will be involved in one or more of the following research areas: 1) validating and refining algorithms and models for predicting VOC emissions and reactivity from crop production and from animal production under different management practices, 2) developing tools to predict the formation of ozone precursors from emitted VOCs at agriculture – urban interfaces, 3) utilizing models to determine the spatial and temporal variability of agriculturally-important pollutants emitted to the atmosphere from agricultural activities, and 4) modifying local and regional scale models to predict pollutant atmospheric fate.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: Recent Ph.D. in environmental engineering, chemistry, physical science, atmospheric science, meteorology, or a closely related field is required. Experience in atmospheric modeling is also required. The incumbent should also be knowledgeable in several of the following areas: atmospheric boundary layer processes, atmospheric chemistry, environmental transport processes, micro and macro meteorology, mathematics, GIS, programming, and organic chemistry
